MONTH 2 - WEEK 1

Finding My Place

"So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."
Romans 12:5

Day 1 - I Belong Here

I Belong Here

Theme

Finding Your Place in God's Family

Memory Verse

Romans 12:5

"So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."

Morning Devotion

Have you ever walked into a room where everyone seemed to know each other except you?

You wonder where to sit.

Who to talk to.

Whether anyone even notices you're there.

For many people coming out of addiction, walking into church feels exactly like that.

You look around and see people laughing together. Families greeting one another. Friends talking about last week's Bible study. People serving confidently. Some carry Bibles that look well used, and they seem to know exactly where every book of the Bible is. You may quietly wonder,

"Do I really belong here?"

The enemy loves that question because it often becomes the beginning of isolation.

He whispers:

"You're different."

"These people have their lives together."

"You'll never fit in."

But God tells a different story.

When you trusted Christ, you didn't become a visitor in His house.

You became family.

You were not adopted because you had your life together.

You were adopted because of His grace.

Every believer sitting in that sanctuary has a story. Some came from addiction. Some came from broken marriages. Some came from anger, pride, fear, or loneliness. Their stories may look different than yours, but every Christian came to Christ needing mercy.

The church isn't a museum for perfect people.

It's a family where imperfect people are learning to follow Jesus together.

Today, don't ask yourself,

"Do I belong?"

Ask yourself,

"Where is God helping me belong?"

Bible Study

Main Passage

Romans 12:3–8

Read the passage slowly.

Notice how often Paul speaks about the Body of Christ.

The Christian life was never meant to be lived alone.

Supporting Scriptures

Ephesians 2:19

"You are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of His household."

Psalm 68:6

"God sets the lonely in families."

1 Corinthians 12:18

"God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be."

Bible Study Questions

  1. According to Romans 12, who decides where each believer belongs?
  2. What does Paul compare the church to?
  3. Why does every body part matter?
  4. What would happen if every part wanted to do the same job?
  5. How does this change the way you see yourself?

Write your answers in your journal.

Personal Reflection

Answer honestly.

When I walk into church, I usually feel:

☐ Comfortable

☐ Nervous

☐ Invisible

☐ Accepted

☐ Unsure

☐ Hopeful

☐ Afraid

Why?

When have I believed the lie that I didn't belong?

What truth from today's Bible study challenges that lie?

Life Application

Today, practice seeing the church through God's eyes instead of your fears.

Walk into church remembering:

  • Someone prayed for you before you arrived.
  • Jesus welcomed you before anyone greeted you.
  • You don't have to impress anyone.
  • Your worth isn't measured by how long you've been a Christian.
  • You already belong because you belong to Christ.

Homework

Part One – Meet Someone

Introduce yourself to one person you have never spoken to before.

Ask three questions:

  • How long have you attended this church?
  • What ministry do you enjoy serving in?
  • What has God been teaching you recently?

Listen more than you speak.

Part Two – My Church Family Journal

Begin a notebook titled:

"My Church Family."

Write:

  • The name of one new person you met.
  • Something you learned about them.
  • One prayer request they shared (if appropriate).
  • One thing you appreciated about the conversation.

Part Three – Gratitude

Write ten reasons you are thankful God brought you to your church.

Don't rush this exercise.

Prayer

Father,

Thank You for bringing me into Your family.

Forgive me for believing the lie that I don't belong.

Help me see Your church through Your eyes instead of my fears.

Give me the courage to introduce myself, to ask questions, and to learn from those who have walked with You longer than I have.

Teach me to remember that everyone in Your family is still growing.

Help me become a brother or sister who welcomes others just as You welcomed me.

Thank You for preparing a place for me in Your house.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Devil's Tactic

"You don't belong here."

God's Truth

"You are a member of God's household."
Ephesians 2:19

Evening Reflection

Before going to bed, answer these questions.

  1. When did I feel like I belonged today?
  2. Did I compare myself with anyone?
  3. What did I learn about another believer?
  4. How did God encourage me today?
  5. What am I looking forward to tomorrow?

Weekly Challenge (Begins Today)

For the entire week, learn the names of five people in your church that you don't already know well.

Don't just memorize their names.

Pray for them every day this week.

Remember:

Everyone you see at church is in a different chapter of the same story. Some have walked with Jesus for forty years. Some for forty days. God is still writing every one of those stories—including yours.

Day 2 - Comparison Is a Thief

Comparison Is a Thief

Theme

God Is Writing Your Story—Not Someone Else's

Memory Verse

John 21:22

"Jesus answered, 'If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow Me.'"

Morning Devotion

Comparison is one of Satan's quietest weapons.

He doesn't always tempt you to go back to addiction.

Sometimes he simply gets you looking at everyone else.

You walk into church and notice the man teaching Sunday school.

The woman leading worship.

The couple everyone seems to know.

The older Christian quoting Scripture.

The deacon praying confidently.

The volunteer who seems comfortable talking to everyone.

Without realizing it, you begin measuring your beginning against someone else's middle.

You don't see their struggles.

You don't know how many years they've walked with Christ.

You don't know how many tears they've cried.

You don't know how many times they've failed and started again.

You only see where they are today.

Peter made this same mistake.

After Jesus restored him, Peter looked at John and asked about John's future.

Jesus lovingly replied,

"What is that to you? You follow Me."

In other words...

Peter's assignment wasn't to become John.

It was to become the man Jesus created Peter to be.

The same is true for you.

God has never asked you to become someone else.

He has invited you to faithfully become the person He created you to be.

Comparison steals joy.

Comparison steals peace.

Comparison steals gratitude.

Comparison steals confidence.

But following Jesus gives all those things back.

Bible Study

Main Passage

John 21:18–22

Read the conversation between Jesus and Peter.

Notice how quickly Peter shifts his attention away from Jesus and onto another disciple.

Jesus immediately redirects Peter's focus.

Supporting Scriptures

Galatians 6:4–5

"Each one should test their own actions... without comparing themselves to someone else."

Hebrews 12:1–2

"Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us..."

Notice...

Your race.

Not someone else's.

Bible Study Questions

  1. Why do you think Peter asked about John?
  2. How did Jesus answer Peter?
  3. Why do you think comparison is dangerous?
  4. What race has God marked out for you?
  5. How can focusing on Jesus free you from comparison?

Personal Reflection

Complete these honestly.

I compare myself most often to...

When I compare myself...

I usually feel...

☐ Discouraged

☐ Angry

☐ Jealous

☐ Unworthy

☐ Motivated

☐ Ashamed

Why?

One gift God has given me is...

One way God has already changed me is...

Life Application

Walk through church this week with a different attitude.

Instead of thinking,

"I wish I were like them."

Think,

"Lord, thank You for what You're doing in their life. Continue Your work in mine."

Celebrate God's work in others without forgetting His work in you.

Homework

Part One

Make two lists.

God Has Already Changed Me

Write ten changes God has already made in your life.

Even small ones count.

God Is Still Growing Me

Write ten areas where you know God is still working.

Remember...

Growth is evidence that you're alive.

Part Two

Find one mature Christian.

Ask them:

"What was the hardest part of your first year walking with Jesus?"

Write down their answer.

You'll probably discover they struggled with many of the same things you do.

Part Three

Today encourage someone else.

Give them a genuine compliment.

Pray for them.

Celebrate their growth.

Learning to celebrate others weakens comparison.

Prayer

Father,

Forgive me for comparing the life You are building in me with the life You are building in someone else.

Help me keep my eyes on Jesus instead of constantly looking around.

Teach me to celebrate the gifts You've given others without forgetting the work You're doing in me.

Remind me that every believer is on a journey, and every journey has a different pace.

Thank You for loving me enough to patiently grow me every day.

Help me trust Your timing.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Devil's Tactic

"You'll never be as good as they are."

God's Truth

"You must follow Me." (John 21:22)

Evening Reflection

Before bed, answer these questions.

  1. Did I compare myself with anyone today?
  2. When did I notice God's work in someone else's life?
  3. Did I thank God for the gifts He's given me?
  4. What is one area where I've grown since coming to Christ?
  5. How can I keep my eyes on Jesus tomorrow?

Weekly Challenge

Today, begin a page in your journal titled:

God's Work in Me

Every evening this week, write one way God is changing you.

Don't write about anyone else.

Don't compare.

Simply notice what God is doing in your own heart.

S2C Principle

Comparison asks, "Why am I not like them?"

Discipleship asks, "Lord, what are You teaching me today?"

Foundation Reminder

Everyone you meet in church is somewhere on the same journey. Some have walked farther, some have just begun, but every believer is still being changed by Jesus.

Don't compare your Chapter 2 to someone else's Chapter 25. Keep following Jesus.

Day 3 - Every Christian Had a First Day

Every Christian Had a First Day

Theme

God Is Patient with Every Believer

Memory Verse

Philippians 1:6

"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

Morning Devotion

One of the greatest mistakes a new believer makes is believing everyone else has always known Jesus.

You walk into church and see people confidently opening their Bibles.

They know the songs.

They know where books of the Bible are.

They pray with confidence.

They volunteer.

They smile.

They seem comfortable.

You quietly wonder,

"Why can't I be like them?"

The truth is...

They weren't always like that.

Every mature Christian was once a new believer.

There was a first prayer.

A first Bible.

A first church service.

A first time volunteering.

A first answered prayer.

A first failure after getting saved.

A first lesson about forgiveness.

A first struggle with doubt.

No one is born spiritually mature.

Growth takes time.

Think about learning to walk.

A parent doesn't expect a baby to run on the first day.

They celebrate every small step.

Your Heavenly Father is no different.

He rejoices when you take one more step toward Him.

The devil says,

"You should be farther along."

Jesus says,

"Keep walking with Me."

Don't measure your faith by someone else's years.

Measure it by your willingness to keep following Christ today.

Bible Study

Main Passage

Mark 4:26–29

Read Jesus' parable about the growing seed.

Notice that growth is gradual.

The farmer does not force the plant to grow.

God provides the growth over time.

Supporting Scriptures

2 Peter 3:18

"Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

1 Corinthians 3:6–7

"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow."

Isaiah 40:31

"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength."

Bible Study Questions

  1. Why does Jesus compare spiritual growth to a seed?
  2. Who causes spiritual growth?
  3. What happens if we become impatient?
  4. Why is consistency more important than speed?
  5. What area of your life has already begun growing?

Personal Reflection

Think back to Day One of your recovery.

How has God already changed you?

What has become easier?

What still feels difficult?

Where have you seen God's patience?

Life Application

Instead of asking,

"How far do I still have to go?"

Ask,

"How far has God already brought me?"

Spend today noticing progress instead of perfection.

Celebrate every victory.

Even the small ones.

Homework

Part One

My Firsts

Write about your spiritual "firsts."

  • My first prayer.
  • My first church service.
  • My first Bible.
  • My first answered prayer.
  • My first Christian friend.
  • My first time serving.
  • My first memory verse.
  • My first victory over temptation.

These are milestones worth remembering.

Part Two

Interview a mature Christian.

Ask these questions.

  1. What was your first year as a Christian like?
  2. What mistakes did you make?
  3. Who helped you grow?
  4. What advice would you give someone just beginning?

Write what you learn.

Part Three

Create a timeline called:

"God's Faithfulness."

Mark important moments in your journey.

Birth.

Important life events.

Addiction.

Treatment.

Salvation.

Baptism.

Joining church.

Recovery milestones.

Answered prayers.

Leave room to keep adding to it.

Prayer

Father,

Thank You for being patient with me.

Thank You that You never expected me to become spiritually mature overnight.

Help me enjoy the journey of growing with You.

Keep me from becoming discouraged when I see how far I still have to go.

Instead, remind me of how faithfully You have carried me this far.

Help me trust Your timing.

Teach me to celebrate every small victory because every step toward You matters.

Thank You for never giving up on me.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Devil's Tactic

"You're growing too slowly."

God's Truth

"He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion." (Philippians 1:6)

Evening Reflection

Before bed, answer these questions.

  1. What progress did I notice today?
  2. Did I thank God for my growth?
  3. Who encouraged me today?
  4. What lesson did I learn about patience?
  5. What is one area where I will continue trusting God's timing?

Weekly Challenge

Begin a page in your journal titled:

My Growth Journal

Every evening this week write:

  • One thing I learned.
  • One way God changed me today.
  • One prayer for tomorrow.

By the end of the week you'll have seven reminders that God is still at work in your life.

S2C Principle

God never compares His children. He grows each one according to His perfect timing.

Building the House

Imagine walking into a home while it's still under construction.

One room has drywall.

Another room has fresh paint.

Another still has exposed studs.

You wouldn't say,

"This house is failing."

You would say,

"It's still being built."

Your life is the same.

Some areas are strong.

Some are still under construction.

Some have only just begun.

Don't be discouraged by unfinished rooms.

The Master Builder has not walked away from the job.

Every day you pray...

Every day you open your Bible...

Every day you choose obedience...

Jesus continues building your house.

And one day, you'll look back and realize that what once felt like slow progress was actually God's faithful workmanship all along.

Day 4 - Learning People's Stories

Learning People's Stories

Theme

Every Testimony Reveals the Faithfulness of God

Memory Verse

Revelation 12:11

"They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony..."

Morning Devotion

One of the greatest blessings in the church is something many people overlook.

Stories.

Every person sitting in church has a story.

Some have overcome addiction.

Some have survived divorce.

Some buried a child.

Some lost everything financially.

Some spent years angry with God before surrendering to Him.

Some grew up in church.

Others found Jesus in prison, in treatment, or on the streets.

When we compare ourselves to people, we only see where they are today.

When we hear their story, we begin to understand how faithful God has been.

One of Satan's greatest tricks is convincing us that everyone else has had an easy life.

That simply isn't true.

The church is filled with people who have experienced God's mercy.

Some stories are dramatic.

Others are quiet.

Both glorify God.

The longer you walk with believers, the more you realize that everyone has scars.

The difference is that Jesus has begun healing them.

Don't be afraid to ask people,

"How did you come to know the Lord?"

Most Christians love sharing what Jesus has done in their lives.

Their testimony may become the encouragement you needed today.

One day...

your testimony will encourage someone else.

Bible Study

Main Passage

John 4:1–42

Read the story of the Samaritan woman.

Notice what happened after she met Jesus.

She immediately went back to her town and told others what had happened.

Her story became an invitation for others to meet Christ.

Her testimony wasn't perfect.

It was honest.

And God used it.

Supporting Scriptures

Psalm 66:16

"Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me."

Mark 5:19

"Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you..."

2 Corinthians 1:3–4

God comforts us so that we can comfort others.

Bible Study Questions

  1. Why did the Samaritan woman immediately tell others about Jesus?
  2. What made her testimony powerful?
  3. How has God used someone else's testimony to encourage you?
  4. Why is every testimony important?
  5. How can your story someday encourage another new believer?

Personal Reflection

Complete these honestly.

The first person who ever told me about Jesus was...

Someone who has encouraged my faith is...

One part of my testimony that I'm thankful for is...

Today I realize God has been faithful because...

Life Application

Instead of trying to impress people...

Learn from them.

Today, ask someone at church one simple question:

"How did you come to know Jesus?"

Then simply listen.

Don't interrupt.

Don't compare.

Just listen.

Every testimony is another reminder that God changes lives.

Homework

Part One

Interview two people from your church.

Ask:

  • How long have you been a Christian?
  • How did you meet Jesus?
  • What was the biggest struggle during your first year?
  • What Bible verse carried you through difficult times?
  • What advice would you give someone who is new in their faith?

Write one page about each person's testimony.

Part Two

My Testimony Journal

Write your testimony in four parts.

Before Christ

What was my life like?

Meeting Jesus

How did God begin drawing me?

Life Today

What has changed?

My Prayer

What do I hope God continues doing in my life?

Don't worry about writing perfectly.

Write honestly.

Part Three

Pray for the two people whose stories you heard today.

Thank God for His faithfulness in their lives.

Ask Him to continue writing your story as well.

Prayer

Father,

Thank You for filling Your church with people whose lives have been changed by Your grace.

Help me stop comparing myself with others and begin learning from them.

Teach me to listen carefully, to celebrate what You have done in other people's lives, and to remember that my own story is still being written.

Thank You that every testimony points to Your faithfulness.

One day, may my testimony bring hope to someone else who wonders if You can change their life.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Devil's Tactic

"You're the only one who struggles."

God's Truth

"God is writing a testimony in every believer's life."

Evening Reflection

Before going to bed...

  1. Whose testimony encouraged me today?
  2. What did I learn about God's faithfulness?
  3. Did I listen more than I talked?
  4. What part of my testimony am I most thankful for?
  5. How is God still writing my story?

Weekly Challenge

Continue building your Church Family Journal.

Today include:

  • Two testimonies you heard.
  • Three things you learned from those testimonies.
  • One Bible verse someone shared with you.
  • One prayer for each person.

Building God's House

A house becomes a home because of the people who live inside it.

The same is true of the church.

Every believer is another room filled with God's grace.

Every testimony is another reminder that Jesus still changes lives.

The more stories you hear...

The more you'll realize something beautiful.

You are not surrounded by perfect people.

You are surrounded by people who have experienced a perfect Savior.

S2C Principle

Comparison asks, "Why am I not like them?"

Compassion asks, "Tell me your story."

When you begin learning people's stories, you'll discover that everyone in God's family is a testimony of His grace—and one day, your story will help someone else believe that change is possible.

Day 5 - Finding My Seat at the Table

Finding My Seat at the Table

Theme

There Is Always Room for One More in God's Family

Memory Verse

Luke 14:23

"Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that My house will be full."

Morning Devotion

Think about the last time you sat down for a family meal.

There was laughter.

Conversation.

Stories.

Someone passed the food.

Someone asked about your day.

Someone noticed when you were quiet.

That's what a healthy family does.

Now imagine walking into that room and standing against the wall.

You see everyone else sitting together.

You wonder,

"Is there a place for me?"

Many people come to church feeling exactly like that.

They attend faithfully.

They leave quietly.

They watch everyone else talking.

They wonder if anyone would notice if they stopped coming.

Then Jesus gently reminds them...

"Pull up a chair."

The Kingdom of God is not built around spectators.

It is built around sons and daughters who gather at the Father's table.

You don't earn your seat.

You don't deserve your seat.

You receive your seat because Jesus invited you.

The church isn't meant to feel like a waiting room.

It's meant to feel like home.

When you begin believing that...

you stop standing near the doorway.

You begin sitting at the table.

Bible Study

Main Passage

Luke 14:15–24

Read the Parable of the Great Banquet.

Notice who accepted the invitation.

Notice who refused it.

Most importantly...

Notice how badly the Master wanted His house full.

God delights in welcoming people into His family.

Supporting Scriptures

Psalm 23:5

"You prepare a table before me..."

Revelation 3:20

"I stand at the door and knock..."

Hebrews 10:24–25

"Do not give up meeting together..."

Romans 15:7

"Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you."

Bible Study Questions

  1. Why did some people refuse the invitation?
  2. Who did the Master invite instead?
  3. What does this parable teach us about God's heart?
  4. Why is fellowship important in the Christian life?
  5. How can you help someone else feel welcome?

Personal Reflection

Answer honestly.

Do I ever feel like an outsider?

When have I felt welcomed?

What makes me feel safe around other Christians?

How can I become someone who helps others feel included?

Life Application

This week...

Don't wait for someone to invite you into a conversation.

Walk over.

Smile.

Introduce yourself.

Ask if you may sit with them.

Most people are grateful someone joined them.

Sometimes everyone at the table is waiting for someone else to take the first step.

Maybe that someone is you.

Homework

Part One

Today, intentionally sit with someone you normally would not sit with.

If there's a fellowship meal...

sit at a different table.

If people are drinking coffee...

join them.

If there isn't a meal...

simply stand with a different group after church.

Stay for at least twenty minutes.

Part Two

Table Conversations

Ask these questions.

  • What brought you to this church?
  • What ministry do you enjoy most?
  • What Bible verse has helped you recently?
  • How can I pray for you this week?

Listen carefully.

Part Three

My Church Table

In your journal, draw a large dinner table.

Write around it the names of people you've met this week.

Beside each name write one thing you've learned about them.

Pray for every person around your "table."

Prayer

Father,

Thank You for inviting me into Your family.

Thank You that there was already a place prepared for me long before I arrived.

Help me stop standing near the doorway and begin living as one of Your children.

Teach me to welcome others with the same love You have shown me.

Help me notice the person standing alone.

Give me the courage to invite them into conversation.

May Your church always feel like home to those who are searching for You.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Devil's Tactic

"Nobody wants you here."

God's Truth

"There is always room at My table."

Evening Reflection

Before bed...

  1. Did I step into a new conversation today?
  2. Did I sit with someone different?
  3. Did I make someone else feel welcome?
  4. What did I learn about another believer?
  5. How did God remind me that I belong?

Weekly Challenge

Continue your Church Family Notebook.

Today include:

  • Everyone you sat with.
  • One lesson you learned from each conversation.
  • One prayer for every person.
  • One way you saw God's love through His people.

S2C Principle

God's family doesn't grow because people find perfect churches. It grows because ordinary believers make room for one another at the table.

Building God's House

Every home has a dining room.

It is where birthdays are celebrated.

Stories are shared.

Prayers are offered.

Forgiveness is given.

Friendships grow.

The church should have that same atmosphere.

Not just inside the fellowship hall...

But inside every heart.

One day someone new will walk into your church feeling exactly the way you once did.

When that happens...

Don't wait for someone else.

Pull up another chair.

Smile.

Introduce yourself.

Help them discover what God has already shown you:

There is always room at the Father's table.

Day 6 - Serving Before Being Seen

Serving Before Being Seen

Theme

Faithfulness in the Hidden Places

Memory Verse

Mark 10:45

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

Morning Devotion

Our world teaches us to become noticed.

Get more followers.

Get promoted.

Get recognized.

Become important.

Jesus taught something completely different.

He washed feet.

Think about that for a moment.

The Creator of the universe knelt before ordinary men and washed their dusty feet.

He didn't do it because He had to.

He did it because serving is the language of love.

When many people first come to church, they wonder,

"When will people notice me?"

But Jesus asks a different question.

"Who can you quietly bless today?"

Some of the most important people in a church are never behind a microphone.

Someone unlocked the doors.

Someone vacuumed the carpet.

Someone prepared coffee.

Someone prayed before anyone arrived.

Someone cleaned the bathrooms.

Someone made sure the lights worked.

Someone folded bulletins.

Someone quietly gave money so another family could eat.

Most people never notice those servants.

God notices every one of them.

The Kingdom of God isn't built by people seeking attention.

It is built by people who quietly love others.

One day God may call you into leadership.

But before He trusts you with leadership...

He teaches you faithfulness.

Leadership begins with serving.

Bible Study

Main Passage

John 13:1–17

Read about Jesus washing the disciples' feet.

Notice that Jesus served even the disciple who would later betray Him.

His love was not based on how people treated Him.

It was based on who He was.

Supporting Scriptures

Mark 10:42–45

"Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant."

Colossians 3:23–24

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord."

Galatians 5:13

"Serve one another humbly in love."

Bible Study Questions

  1. Why did Jesus wash His disciples' feet?
  2. What lesson was He teaching?
  3. Why is humility so important in serving?
  4. What does the world say makes someone great?
  5. What does Jesus say makes someone great?

Personal Reflection

Answer honestly.

Do I enjoy serving when nobody notices?

How do I usually feel when someone else receives recognition?

Would I still serve if nobody ever thanked me?

What kind of servant do I want to become?

Life Application

Today...

Look for work that no one else wants to do.

Pick up trash.

Wash dishes.

Stack chairs.

Sweep a floor.

Help carry groceries.

Hold a door.

Smile at someone standing alone.

Pray with someone quietly.

Don't announce it.

Don't expect recognition.

Simply serve.

Remember...

The Father sees what others overlook.

Homework

Part One

Choose one hidden act of service.

Do something kind that no one knows you did.

Tell no one.

Leave it between you and God.

Part Two

Observe three servants at church.

Watch someone serving in different ministries.

Ask yourself:

  • What attitude do they have?
  • Do they serve joyfully?
  • What can I learn from them?

Write one page in your journal.

Part Three

Ask one longtime volunteer:

  • Why do you continue serving?
  • What has God taught you through serving?
  • What advice would you give someone just beginning?

Record their answers.

Prayer

Father,

Thank You for sending Jesus, who showed me that true greatness is found in serving others.

Teach me to love people without needing recognition.

Help me become faithful in the small things before You ever ask me to do larger things.

Remove pride from my heart.

Give me joy in helping others.

Help me remember that every act of service is an act of worship when it is done for You.

May I always serve with humility, gratitude, and love.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

Devil's Tactic

"If nobody notices you, your service doesn't matter."

God's Truth

"Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matthew 6:4)

Evening Reflection

Before bed...

  1. How did I serve today?
  2. Did I expect recognition?
  3. What did I learn from watching others serve?
  4. Did serving bring me joy?
  5. How did serving help me become more like Jesus?

Weekly Challenge

Continue your Church Family Notebook.

Today include:

  • Three people you saw serving.
  • What impressed you about their attitude.
  • One ministry you would enjoy helping with.
  • One hidden act of service you completed this week.

S2C Principle

God often prepares people in hidden places before He ever places them in visible ones.

Building God's House

When a house is built, people admire the finished rooms.

They rarely think about the workers behind the walls.

The electrician.

The plumber.

The carpenter.

The painter.

Without them, there is no home.

God's church is built the same way.

Many of the strongest believers are the least recognized.

They pray before anyone arrives.

They serve after everyone leaves.

They give quietly.

They encourage without seeking attention.

They simply love God's people.

One day you may stand in front of others.

But never forget the lesson Jesus taught first.

The strongest leaders are first the most faithful servants.

From Visitor to Family

Memory Verse Review

Recite this week's memory verse without looking.

Romans 12:5

"So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."

Write it from memory.

Morning Devotion

One week ago, you may have walked into church wondering if you belonged.

Maybe you stood quietly in the back.

Maybe you hurried to your car after the service.

Maybe you believed everyone else knew each other.

Maybe you believed everyone else was farther along.

This week God has been changing your thinking.

You learned that you belong because Jesus brought you into His family.

You learned that comparison steals joy.

You discovered that every Christian had a first day.

You listened to other people's stories and realized God's grace reaches every kind of person.

You found that God has already prepared a place for you.

You discovered that serving quietly is one of the greatest expressions of love.

Now ask yourself one question.

Do I still feel like a visitor...

or am I beginning to feel like family?

Remember...

Families are not perfect.

Churches are not perfect.

People are not perfect.

Jesus is.

He is patiently building His family one life at a time.

And now...

you are one of those lives.
